Moringa, often referred to as the "drumstick tree," is a versatile plant celebrated for its nutritional benefits and culinary uses. In Maharashtra, Moringa is cultivated in various varieties, including PKM1, PKM2, and Jaffna, each offering unique characteristics. The PKM1 variety is known for its bushy form and rapid regrowth after cropping, reaching a height of 4 meters in the first year. The Jaffna variety is distinguished by its long pods, which can grow up to 90-120 cm in length. These Moringa pods are harvested at lengths of +40cm and +45cm, ensuring optimal size and quality. They are carefully sorted by size to meet specific market requirements. For packaging, the pods are placed in corrugated boxes, each containing 10kg, to maintain freshness and facilitate easy handling. This meticulous cultivation and packaging process ensures that Moringa pods from Maharashtra are of high quality, catering to both domestic and international markets.
